Judicial Experience
Judge Guten currently serves as a Special District Judge for the 14th Judicial District in Tulsa County and is assigned to the Criminal Division where he presides over felony preliminary hearings. He started his career in Tulsa as an Assistant District Attorney before moving into private practice. Over the next 13 years, he focused his legal practice around the representation of veterans, service members and their families over a wide-range of practice areas. He was the founder and managing partner for the Military Law Group in Tulsa before taking the bench in 2019. He is currently co-chairman of the Tulsa County Bar Association’s Military and Veteran’s Law Committee and a member of the Oklahoma Bar Associations Military and Veteran’s Law Committee.
Integrity
Judge Guten is a dedicated father to four amazing boys and husband to an even more amazing wife, Maura, who also serves the community through nonprofit leadership. David lives his military core values of serving others first through his family, friends, country and community.
David is a lifelong Tulsan, dedicated to keeping our county and our country safe for those he serves through his decades of experience fighting for what's right from both sides of the bench.
Service
Judge Guten has served in the United States Air Force and the Oklahoma Air National Guard for nearly 18 years and continues to serve today. During his military career, he deployed in 2008 and again in 2009 as the Assistant Staff Judge Advocate to the 601st Air Operations Center in support of Operation Noble Eagle protecting US Airspace in response to the 9/11 terrorist attacks. In 2014 he deployed as the Staff Judge Advocate to the 1st Expeditionary Special Operations Wing, Combined Joint Special Operations Air Component in Afghanistan, in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. He is a combat veteran and currently holds the rank of Lieutenant Colonel.
